Maths Assessment (Informal Numeracy - on entry)

A simple, practical way to get an early picture of children’s maths without making the first few days feel like a test. This pack includes 5 short maths assessment activities, each with a full lesson plan and matching assessment sheet, covering numeral recognition, counting, subitising, ordering numbers, comparing quantities and repeating patterns. It also includes 8 Colour by Number sheets in two levels, with dinosaur, unicorn, transport and animal themes, so children can choose something that interests them while you quietly assess what they already know. The activities are designed to be light, hands-on and easy to organise, giving you useful starting-point information while the children simply feel that they are playing, colouring and exploring maths.
